Reflection on the WORD
Do you love Me? – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus asked Peter three times,“Do you love Me?” And then, each time, commissioned him to care for and nurture the faith of His ‘sheep’ as they are weak and vulnerable. Ponder on: Is our faith, hope and love for Jesus deep enough to be willing to suffer and even die, instead of denying Him? What is Jesus saying to us today?
John 21:15-17, 19b
Jesus showed himself to his disciples, and after they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these others do?’ He answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.’
A second time he said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ He replied, ‘Yes, Lord, you know I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Look after my sheep’'
Then he said to him a third time, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter was hurt that he asked him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and said, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’ After this he said, ‘Follow me.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Like many people, we are also concerned with the possessions of wealth and power, Jesus’ question to Peter, “Do you love me more than the others?” is an important question that we each have to answer.
- Peter was not perfect; he had his shortcomings, yet, he loved Jesus very much and Jesus knew this of him. How much time, do we spend in trying to know Jesus more personally, so that we can love Him like Peter?
- May the Holy Spirit fill our lives with God’s abundant love so that in spite of our weaknesses, we will continue to love God wholeheartedly, like Peter.
