Reflection on the WORD
The Tests of Faith: In today’s Gospel, with the Holy Spirit, Jesus withdrew into the desert for forty days. There He will be tested. In the Spirit, He remains focused and faithful in preparing for His Mission of His Father. Ponder on: Do we discern the Holy Spirit’s Presence, Light and Love, when we are faced with temptations that tests our faith?
Mark 1:12-15
The Spirit drove Jesus into the desert and he remained there for forty days, and was put to the test by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and the angels looked after him.
After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the gospel from God saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus overcame temptations by the grace and strength given by His Father. Likewise, Jesus gives us His Holy Spirit to be our strength and our consoler when we are tempted and tested.
- Having received the Good News, we are urged by Jesus to “repent and believe” so that others may see the goodness and truth of God’s message of salvation through us.
- Repentance requires a change from our sinful ways to living in God’s ways. Are you ready to live in God’s ways of love and righteousness for His glory? What is your response to Our Lord?
