Reflection on the WORD
Depth of Faith: In today’s Gospel, the Pharisees were “demanding” a sign from Jesus, to prove His Divinity. However, Jesus reprimanded them for their insincerity and their lack of faith in Him as the Messiah. Ponder on: Is our faith, love, and hope in Jesus deep? If so, then all our petitions and prayers will be centred on loving Him, and serving His Father’s Will.
Mark 8:11-13
The Pharisees came up and started a discussion with Jesus; they demanded of him a sign from heaven, to put him to the test.
And with a profound sigh he said, ‘Why does this generation demand a sign? In truth I tell you, no sign shall be given to this generation.’ And, leaving them again, he re-embarked and went away to the other side.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Like the Pharisees in today’s Gospel, we too often ask of God signs to re-assure our faith in Him. As though it is not enough to trust in a loving heavenly Father, we look for more assurances and at times, guarantees.
- Jesus is the eternal Sign from God; we do not need other signs or guarantees. Through Jesus, we will never be lost and lonely.
- Yet, how often have we failed to look to Jesus for our needs and direction in life? Pray for a deeper faith in the Lord.
