Reflection on the WORD

Vigilant Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims to His disciples about the importance of being vigilant in living the faith.  Ponder on: To live such a vigilance, we need to have genuine desires to love God, even though we are weak and fall into sins.  We are to live our lives in the ways of Jesus with sincerity e.g. making sacrifices, loving and forgiving others as Jesus has shown us.

Luke 12:35-38

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘See that you have your belts done up and your lamps lit. Be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks.

‘Blessed those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. In truth I tell you, he will do up his belt, sit them down at table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch that he comes, or in the third, but blessed are those servants if he finds them ready.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • What makes Christianity unique among all religions is that while other religions need to search for God, Christianity is primarily about God coming to us and saving all humankind.
  • As believers of the Lord, we must always be ready to meet the God of our lives in this world and for all eternity.
  • Spend a few minutes every day in the morning, at midday, and at night, to clear your minds and hearts of the distractions and the superficial concerns of your life. Be more focused on how the Lord wants you to deepen your relationship with Him.
