Reflection on the WORD
Depth of our Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus challenged the Pharisees to live a more authentic and not a hypocritical faith. Ponder on: When we live and practice our faith like going for Mass, doing good deeds of compassion, making sacrifices etc. . . Do we do so out of our sincere and deep love for God, or do we do them superficially and routinely?
Luke 11:37-41
Jesus had just finished speaking when a Pharisee invited him to dine at his house. He went in and sat down at table. The Pharisee saw this and was surprised that he had not first washed before the meal.
But the Lord said to him, ‘You Pharisees! You clean the outside of cup and plate, while inside yourselves you are filled with extortion and wickedness. Fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside too? Instead, give alms from what you have and, look, everything will be clean for you.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us that it is more important for us to give Him a clean mind and heart than having clean hands for outward show.
- Thus, Jesus asserts us to give freely and generously to those in need and fill our hearts with love and compassion, so that there is no room for envy, greed or bitterness.
- When we allow God’s love to transform our hearts and mind, love, mercy, compassion and kindness will follow and our hope of going to heaven will become a reality.
