Reflection on the WORD
Praying the Lord’s Prayer – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus taught His disciples to pray the “Our Father” prayer. This prayer is the “model” for all other prayers; as this prayer is taught by Jesus Himself. Ponder on: Are our prayers focused on reverencing and loving God our Father; and His Kingdom, His Will, Mercy and Love or are they overfocused on superficial needs?
Luke 11:1-4
Once Jesus was in a certain place praying, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.’
He said to them, ‘When you pray, this is what to say:
“Father, may your name be held holy,
your kingdom come;
give us each day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive each one who is in debt to us.
And do not put us to the test.” ’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- In today’s Gospel Jesus teaches His disciples and all of us how to pray by first honouring His Father. We also pray that His Kingdom will come into our lives and in the world.
- This universal prayer is a holistic gift from Jesus and encapsulates all that God wants from us in our relationship with Him and thereby our relationship with all others in His Kingdom here and now.
- Have I been faithful in putting into practice in my daily Christian life what Jesus Himself has taught us?
