Reflection on the WORD

Miracles – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reprimanded the cities that were blind and obstinate, and refused to repent of their sins, in spite of the many miracles that were done for them.  Ponder on: God blesses us with many miracles daily. However, are we not aware of them because we are not gratefulto Him, and take His daily blessings for granted?

Luke 10:13-16

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. And still, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the Judgement than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, did you want to be raised high as heaven? You shall be flung down to hell.

‘Anyone who listens to you listens to me; anyone who rejects you rejects me, and those who reject me reject the one who sent me.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus pronounced judgement on the people of Chorazin and Bethsaida because they repeatedly refused to repent and change from their sinful ways even though they have heard of the Good News and witnessed Jesus’ miracles.
  • Jesus is also calling each one of us to live and walk in His Ways of Truth, Love, Justice and Compassion daily.
  • Pray for the insights and graces to know how to live in the Lord’s Ways. Speak to Him from your heart and listen attentively to His Spirit’s promptings daily to grow into exemplary Christians.
