Reflection on the WORD
God’s Kingdom: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims to the crowds that the Kingdom of God can be likened to a mustard seed; the smallest of all seeds, but has the potential to grow into the biggest shrub. Ponder on: Our faith can grow, with God’s Light and Love, into becoming Christ-like persons. The saints and martyrs witness that this is possible.
Mark 4:26-32
Jesus said to the crowd, ‘This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the land. Night and day, while he sleeps, when he is awake, the seed is sprouting and growing; how, he does not know. Of its own accord the land produces first the shoot, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. And when the crop is ready, at once he starts to reap because the harvest has come.’
He also said, ‘What can we say that the kingdom is like? What parable can we find for it? It is like a mustard seed which, at the time of its sowing, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth. Yet once it is sown it grows into the biggest shrub of them all and puts out big branches so that the birds of the air can shelter in its shade.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- · In today’s Gospel, Jesus assures us that He will transform our little faith into a great faith if we only dare to believe in Him; just like “tiny mustard seed” will grow into a big tree.
- · Just as a seed will not grow until it is planted in the ground, the “seed” of faith which God plants in our hearts can only be transformed by God if we are willing to nurture it.
- · Pray for the grace for attentiveness, fidelity and zeal in cooperating with God in nurturing our faith daily.
