Reflection on the WORD
God’s Providence – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed the “Temple’s destruction.” This is a reminder to His followers and to us, that we are not to be overly anxious about our future. Ponder on: Are we overly anxious about our future, instead of focusing on living our faith, hope and love for God with greater fidelity daily?
Luke 21:5-9
When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework and votive offerings, Jesus said, ‘All these things you are staring at now - the time will come when not a single stone will be left on another; everything will be destroyed.’
And they put to him this question, ‘Master,’ they said, ‘when will this happen, then, and what sign will there be that it is about to take place?’ ‘Take care not to be deceived,’ he said, ‘because many will come using my name and saying, “I am he” and, “The time is near at hand.” Refuse to join them. And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened, for this is something that must happen, but the end is not so soon.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •Jesus warns that there will be signs around us that can be misleading. As his faithful followers, we must learn to discern so as not to be deceived by the influences of the world and of false prophets who instill fear in us.
- •When we have fear in our hearts do not nurse them. Instead place our faith in God who will always be there through the Holy Spirit to lead, protect and provide us with all our needs in life.
- •As the Lord’s disciples, we are called to pray, “Come Lord Jesus, shepherd of our lives, and source of our strength and peace in our fears and anxieties”.
