Reflection on the WORD
Divine Wisdom – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds His disciples, “Do not store up treasures on earth, . . . but store up treasures for yourselves in heaven.” Ponder on: These words of the Divine Wisdom of Jesus is so true. However, do we truly take them seriously, and put God at the centre of our lives instead of material wealth?
Matthew 6:19-23
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and woodworms destroy them and thieves can break in and steal. But store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor woodworms destroy them and thieves cannot break in and steal. For wherever your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
‘The lamp of the body is the eye. It follows that if your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be all darkness. If then, the light inside you is darkness, what darkness that will be!’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •Jesus highlights two very different kinds of wealth, material and spiritual wealth. He wants us to concentrate on what will truly last, not just for a life-time, but for all eternity.
- •Your life will be directed by what you value most. Hence, set your heart on heavenly treasures so that you will enter into a deeper and richer life with God.
- •Reflect on your present daily living and ask yourself, “Which treasure is more evident in the way I live my life daily? Do I seek more the earthly or the heavenly treasure?”
