Reflection on the WORD
Jesus’ Disappointment: In today’s Gospel, Jesus was deeply disappointed with His townspeople and said to them, “No prophet is ever accepted in his own country.” Ponder on, “In your love for God, have you experienced ‘rejection’ from the people who are close to you? If so, do not be discouraged; remain focused on loving God.”
Luke 4:23b-28
The people of Nazara said to Jesus, “We have heard all that happened in Capernaum, do the same here in your own countryside.” ’ And Jesus went on, ‘I tell you solemnly, no prophet is ever accepted in his own country.
‘There were many widows in Israel, I can assure you, in Elijah's day, when heaven remained shut for three years and six months and a great famine raged throughout the land, but Elijah was not sent to any one of these: he was sent to a widow at Zarephath, a Sidonian town. And in the prophet Elisha's time there were many lepers in Israel, but none of these was cured except the Syrian Naaman.’
When they heard this everyone in the synagogue was enraged.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •If you are able to be more fully aware of Jesus’ presence in your daily living, then your relationship with Him would grow to become more personal and less superstitious.
- •If you are able to love the Lord more sincerely and if your faith and trust in Him is strong, then your heart will be more focused on becoming more like Him, instead of looking for more proofs from Him.
- •Are you aware that Jesus’ Spirit is present in you and in whatever you do? How do you relate to Jesus daily?
