Reflection on the WORD
Christ-like Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed to His apostles that they are to serve humbly at all times. Like Him, they are to “be the least” of all servants, in living the Father’s Will. Ponder on, “Are we self-righteous, insensitive and proud when we are serving God’s people and relating to others?”
Mark 10:42-45
Jesus called the apostles to him and said to them, ‘You know that among the pagans their so-called rulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt.
‘This is not to happen among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be your servant, and anyone who wants to be first among you must be slave to all. For the Son of Man himself did not come to serve, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •We know only too well, those who “lord it” over others e.g. our bosses at work, our political and church leaders, our older relatives and the like for various reasons. Such behaviour creates a chasm in relationships.
- •Christian leadership is marked by service after the example set by Jesus Himself. The late pope John Paul II addressed himself as the servant of the servants of God.
- •In your position of leadership or authority, do you model yourself after Jesus by serving them for their good and for the greater good of all peoples, especially for the glory of God?
