Reflection on the WORD
Faith - “Dejected”? In today’s Gospel, Jesus felt sorry for the crowds who were harassed and dejected. Jesus, the Good Shepherd feels our pain and sorrows. He wants us to reach out to those who are suffering with His Compassionate Love. Are we too preoccupied with our self-pity and interests?
Matthew 9:35-37
Jesus made a tour through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom and curing all kinds of diseases and sicknesses.
And when he saw the crowds he felt sorry for them because they were harassed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers to his harvest.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •The Good News of salvation has touched one billion Christians or more in the world.
- •If we are on a ship and find others drowning in the sea, are we not obliged to rescue them? If we don’t do something for these people, our Good News is not integrated into our lives.
- •Jesus is challenging all of us who have the gift of eternal life to do what we can daily to make His Good News known, loved and lived. Ponder on this truth and be receptive to God’s challenges to make Him real to people through your witness of Him.
