Reflection on the WORD
Faith - “Jesus’ Ways”: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds His disciples that to witness to the Good News, their love for God must be unconditional. Ponder on, “As God always shows us His Mercy and Forgiving Love, are we also willing to forgive ourselves and others at all times? Pray for the grace to have such humility and wisdom.”

Matthew 5:38-42
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You have learnt how it was said: Eye for eye and tooth for tooth. But I say this to you: offer the wicked man no resistance. On the contrary, if anyone hits you on the right cheek, offer him the other as well; if a man takes you to law and would have your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone orders you to go one mile, go two miles with him.
‘Give to anyone who asks, and if anyone wants to borrow, do not turn away.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •When Jesus spoke about God’s law, He did something no one had done before. He gave a new standard based not just on righteousness i.e. giving each his due, but on the law of grace and love.
- •Only the Cross of Jesus Christ can free you from the tyranny of malice, hatred, revenge, and resentment and give you the courage to return evil with good. Such grace can heal you and save you from destruction. Have you experienced Christ’s redeeming love and mercy?
- •Pray for the grace of patience and self-control: when tempted to retaliate, be humble; when provoked, be gentle and respond with loving-kindness.
