Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus: Friday 11th June, 2021 June 11, 2021
Reflection on the WORD
God’s Compassion: In today’s Gospel, Jesus who willingly Suffered and Died for us, was pierced at His Side, where His Blood and Water flowed out. This scene captures for us God’s infinite Merciful and Compassionate Love for us. Beg God for the grace also to be more like Jesus when people hurt and harm us.

John 19:31-37
It was Preparation Day, and to prevent the bodies remaining on the cross during the sabbath -- since that sabbath was a day of special solemnity -- the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken away. Consequently the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with him and then of the other.
When they came to Jesus, they found he was already dead, and so instead of breaking his legs one of the soldiers pierced his side with a lance; and immediately there came out blood and water. This is the evidence of one who saw it -- trustworthy evidence, and he knows he speaks the truth -- and he gives it so that you may believe as well.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •In an apparition to St Margaret Mary, Jesus lamented the fact that His Sacred Heart that has loved us so intensely is not loved in return. The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us of Jesus’ intense love for us.
- •By conscious acts or omission to act, we have all failed to return Jesus’ love. Let us draw from the wellspring of grace flowing from Jesus’ Sacred Heart to live authentic Christian lives.
- •“Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us”.
