Reflection on the WORD
Faith – Authentic: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims to His disciples that it is essential to live an authentic life. As we are imperfect and sinful, when we pray and worship God, we are to be sincere and transparent with Him. We are to beg Him for His Merciful and Forgiving Love, and be reconciled in our relationships with others.

Matthew 5:20-26
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘If your virtue goes no deeper than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.
‘You have heard how it was said to our ancestors: You must not kill; and if anyone does kill he must answer for it before the court. But I say this to you: anyone who is angry with a brother will answer for it before the court; if a man calls his brother “Fool” he will answer for it before the Sanhedrin; and if a man calls him “Renegade” he will answer for it in hell fire. So then, if you are bringing your offering to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar, go and be reconciled with your brother first, and then come back and present your offering.’

- •To be disciples of Jesus, we are expected to live exemplary upright lives: both consistent in our daily living and in our worship of God our Lord.
- •If we do not Love one another, we may end up causing each other much pain and harm, and most serious of all, we may draw people away from God.
- •Jesus wishes that we Love one another. In doing so, our witnessing will sow peace, unity and happiness. And most of all sow the seed that leads them to Christ.
