Reflection on the WORD
Faith – Testing: In today’s Gospel, after Jesus’ Baptism, He went into the desert for forty days “to prepare” Himself for His Public ministry. There, His faith was tempted and tested by Satan. Is it true for you that, “When God allowed your faith to be tempted and tested, He also strengthened your faith for Him?”
Mark 1:12-15
The Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness and he remained there for forty days, and was tempted by Satan. He was with the wild beasts, and the angels looked after him.
After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. ‘The time has come’ he said, ‘and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •Jesus overcame temptations by the grace and strength given by His Father. Likewise, Jesus gives us His Holy Spirit to be our strength and our consoler when we are tempted and tested.
- •Having received the Good News, we are urged by Jesus to “repent and believe” so that others may see the goodness and truth of God’s message of salvation through us.
- •Repentance requires a change from our sinful ways to living in God’s ways. Are you ready to live in God’s ways of love and righteousness for His glory? What is your response to Our Lord?
