Reflection on the WORD
Following Jesus: Jesus proclaims the radical Gospel that challenges us to take up our crosses, “lose our life for His sake” and gain the Eternal Salvation He promises. Do we shun these challenges because we fear “pain”? When we love Jesus deeply, the “pain” can be offered as salvific graces for the needs of others.
Luke 9:22-25
Jesus said to his disciples, ‘The Son of man is destined to suffer grievously, to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be put to death, and to be raised up on the third day.’
Then, speaking to all, he said, ‘If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross every day and follow me. For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, will save it. What gain then, is it for a man to have won the whole world and to have lost or ruin his very self?’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •The Holy Spirit can help us change our perceptions in life and to accept “truths” even in the form of prophesies. Happy are those who do not see, yet believe.
- •To renounce ourselves and to take up the cross means that we have to be Christ-centred and not self-centred. Then we can grow spiritually in faith and attain eternal life.
- •We carry big and small crosses in life. Pray for God’s grace and spiritual insights to persevere in our daily living.
