Reflection on the WORD
Burdens and Trials: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims His divine Mercy and Compassionate Love for those who are “suffering”. In our trials, do we trust God wholeheartedly or do we “expect” God to wipe them away? Do we loveGod only when things go our way, and without pain?
Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus exclaimed: ‘Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •We are all overburdened in life; more so in today’s world of secularism and materialism where we are all called to meet deadlines, achieve success, etc.
- •A lot of our “burdens” are self-inflicted or demanded by our secular society. We could also create complications in our lives with standards and norms that constantly bring “burdens” onto ourselves.
- •Once we are able to put Jesus’ words of “learn from me for I am humble of heart” into practice, we will surely find “peace and rest for our souls”. He has given us this promise. Will we trust His Word and act on it?
