Reflection on the WORD
Childlike Humility: In today’s Gospel, Jesus said to His disciples that to be the “greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven,” we need to have the virtue of childlike humility. This virtue is to be totally trusting in our love for God. Do we “trust God” and yet, find ourselves, living in the insecurities of our attachments in our lives?
Matthew 18:1-5
The disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?’ So he called a little child to him whom he set among them.
Then he said, ‘In truth I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.
‘Anyone who welcomes one little child like this in my name welcomes me.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus tells us that in order “to enter the kingdom of Heaven” we must live the childlike faith of a simplicity of heart and a humble reliance on God.
- When our relationship with God is one of total openness and trust in Him, we will willingly live in His ways. Our hearts will then be free of greed, pride, envy and self-seeking glory.
- When we live in God’s ways, He will happily share His glory with us forever in heaven. Isn’t this the best gift we can ever hope for?
