Reflection on the WORD
Jesus’ Mother: In today’s Gospel, Jesus affirmed that fidelity to His Father’s Word and Will is of utmost importance in the living our faith. This is how we develop and deepen our personal relationship with God our Father. Mary is the perfect model of all disciples of living the Father’s Will. What about us?
Luke 8:19-21
The mother and brothers of Jesus came looking for him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd. He was told, ‘Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.’
But he said in answer, ‘My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and put it into practice.’

- The deepest bond of friendship is when a relationship is founded on trying to love God fully as Jesus has shown us through the Good News of salvation.
- Jesus exemplifies this when He affirmed that His bond of relationship with His mother is deeper through their fidelity to God’s Will than through human mother and child relationship.
- Our Christian community of believers should witness to our union with one another in the Lord through our love, care and concern for each other’s needs and the needs of the poor and marginalized of our secular society.
