Reflection on the WORD
Salvation: In today’s Gospel, Jesus uses the image of “salt and earth,” and “light” that shines for the world to see, to remind us that the purpose of our life is to discern and live God’s Will, in His Love and Ways. Pray for the wisdom to allow the Holy Spirit to protect and unfold God’s Providence for you daily.
Matthew 5:13-16
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You are salt for the earth. But if salt loses its taste, what can make it salty again? It is good for nothing, and can only be thrown out to be trampled under people's feet.
‘You are light for the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine in people's sight, so that, seeing your good works, they may give praise to your Father in heaven.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Salt has its purpose to achieve; so does light. Today’s Gospel reminds us live a life that is more focused on God, and not be dissipated by the many distractions of life.
- We live our life not only for our own benefits. We need to shine forth Christ’s Light to others so that there is more divine Hope in this world. In doing this we become God’s light in today’s world.
- How can we draw others to God more effectively, more convincingly so that many more will also receive the gift of salvation that God is offering them.
