Reflection on the WORD
Sincerity – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us of our need to be sincere in our search for Jesus as our Saviour and Lord. Sincerity opens our minds and hearts to the Light and Love of Jesus, but scepticism hinders the reception of these divine graces that God wants to give us. Pray for a purer sincerity of our faith.
Mark 8:11-13
The Pharisees came up and started a discussion with Jesus; they demanded of him a sign from heaven, to put him to the test.
And with a profound sigh he said, ‘Why does this generation demand a sign? In truth I tell you, no sign shall be given to this generation.’ And, leaving them again, he re-embarked and went away to the other side.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Like the Pharisees in today’s Gospel, we too often ask of God signs to re-assure our faith in Him. As though it is not enough to trust in a loving heavenly Father, we look for more assurances and at times, guarantees.
- Jesus is the eternal Sign from God; we do not need other signs or guarantees. Through Jesus, we will never be lost and lonely.
- Yet, how often have we failed to look to Jesus for our needs and direction in life? Pray for a deeper faith in the Lord.
