Reflection on the WORD
Personal Jesus: In today’s Gospel, Jesus’ primary concern was not so much on what the crowds think of Him, but more importantly who He is to His disciples. Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? Speak to Jesus in your heart several times each day, and thank Him for all His Protective and Providential Love.
Luke 9:18-22
One day when Jesus was praying alone, his disciples came to him and he put this question to them, ‘Who do the crowds say I am?’ And they answered, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others Elijah; others again one of the ancient prophets come back to life.’
‘But you,’ he said to them, ‘who do you say I am?’ It was Peter who spoke up. ‘The Christ of God,’ he said.
But he gave them strict orders and charged them not to say this to anyone. He said, ‘The Son of man is destined to suffer grievously, to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be put to death, and to be raised up on the third day.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •When Jesus asked the disciples who they thought He was, Jesus was trying to draw from them a personal profession of faith in Him that He is the Messiah, the Son of God whom they have been waiting for.
- •Yet, after following Jesus for three years, all the disciples except Peter failed to recognize that He is the Messiah.
- •In what ways do we sometimes also fail to recognize Jesus as the Messiah in the daily decisions of our lives, especially when our hearts are in turmoil or when a tragic event has happened?
