Reflection on the WORD
“Signs - Faith”: In today’s Gospel, when the Pharisees demanded a sign to test whether Jesus is “from heaven or not,” He refused. Ponder on, “Do we go to Jesus only when we are in great need?” To “use” Jesus, our Lord and Saviour only for our needs is to have a self-centered and superficial faith.
Mk 8:11-13
The Pharisees came up and started a discussion with Jesus; they demanded of him a sign from heaven, to put him to the test.
And with a profound sigh he said, ‘Why does this generation demand a sign? In truth I tell you, no sign shall be given to this generation.’ And, leaving them again, he re-embarked and went away to the other side.

- •In today’s Gospel, Jesus refused to give the Pharisees any sign except that of Himself and the ultimate proof of His divinity by His resurrection.
- •Jesus assures us of His divine presence will be with us until the end of time. He is present to us especially in His Word and in the Eucharist.
- •Are you looking for a sign from our Lord? Ponder on the truth of His presence in your heart, in His revealed Word and in the Eucharist. Have a heart-to-heart talk with Him.
