Reflection on the WORD
Silence - Peace: In today’s Gospel, after a busy day, Jesus urged His apostles to go to a lonely place to rest. Ponder on the wisdom of Jesus seeking silence and solitude so that His heart and mind can be more fully united with His Father. When there is too much “noise” in our minds and hearts, we cannot know our true self.
Mk 6:30-34
The apostles rejoined Jesus and told him all they had done and taught. And he said to them, ‘Come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while’; for there were so many coming and going that there was no time for them even to eat. So they went off in the boat to a lonely place where they could be by themselves.
But people saw them going, and many recognised them; and from every town they all hurried to the place on foot and reached it before them. So as he stepped ashore he saw a large crowd; and he took pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he set himself to teach them at some length.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •In today’s Gospel, Jesus is moved with compassion when He saw the crowds were eagerly seeking Him. He is the Good Shepherd who cares for his flock.
- •Called to follow Jesus, are we Christ-like in our daily living? Are we sensitive to the feelings and needs of those around us? Often only small things are needed – a cheerful smile or a friendly word.
- •Pray for the Grace to set aside our ego and our selfishness and to serve in small ways with great love.
