Reflection on the WORD
Wisdom: In today’s Gospel, Jesus advised His disciples to keep the lamps of their faith burning, and not wait for crises to strike before living our faith with vigilance. Ponder on, “Do I get carried away with unnecessary concerns and material needs, and forget that God is always there loving me?”
Lk 12:35-38
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘See that you have your belts done up and your lamps lit. Be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks.
‘Blessed those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. In truth I tell you, he will do up his belt, sit them down at table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch that he comes, or in the third, but blessed are those servants if he finds them ready.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- In today’s Gospel Jesus extols faithfulness and warns against sloth by using the image of a great wedding feast in which the master honours his guests with places of honour and waits on them personally.
- Faithfulness, a key attribute of God and one He also expects of us, is the foundation for any lasting and meaningful relationship and entails unwavering commitment. Sloth is tardiness; putting off work to be done when the master is away.
- Jesus challenges us to be faithful and vigilant about His coming. Are you faithful to God and ready to give him an account of our stewardship? Ask the Lord for the grace and strength to be faithful at all times.
