Reflection on the WORD
Serving God: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed to His Apostles that they are all to be “servants” to each other so that God is Glorified. They should neither aspire for self-glory, nor serve with pride and power that dominate. He as Son of God came “To Serve and not to be served.”
Mk 10:42-45
Jesus called the apostles to him and said to them, ‘You know that among the gentiles those they call their rulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt.
‘Among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be your servant, and anyone who wants to be first among you must be slave to all. For the Son of man himself came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- In today’s Gospel Jesus told His apostles that to be great they must be servant to others and slave to all. He cautions them never to assert their authority over their followers like worldly leaders.
- Not only did Jesus come “to serve and not to be served”, He also paid the price for our redemption with His blood and offered us eternal life through His resurrection.
- Are you willing to serve people in need humbly as Jesus did? Ask Jesus to make you a servant of His love that you may seek to serve rather than be served. Ponder on this and speak with the Lord.
