Reflection on the WORD
Taking God for Granted: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reprimanded the chief priests and elders for their obstinacy, blindness and taking God’s Goodness for granted. When we reflect on the abundant graces that God has showered on us, let us ponder on, “Have I used God’s Blessings for the greater good of others?”
Mt 22:1-4a,5-7a,8-9,11,13,14a
Jesus began to speak to the chief priests and the elders of the people in parables, ‘The kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a king who gave a feast for his son's wedding. He sent his servants to call those who had been invited, but they would not come. Next he sent some more servants. But they were not interested: one went off to his farm, another to his business, and the rest seized his servants, maltreated them and killed them. The king was furious.
‘Then he said to his servants, “The wedding is ready; but as those who were invited proved to be unworthy, go to the main crossroads and invite everyone you can find to come to the wedding.” When the king came in to look at the guests he noticed one man who was not wearing a wedding garment. Then the king said to the attendants, “Bind him hand and foot and throw him into the darkness outside.” For many are invited but not all are chosen.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- God invites each one of us to His Heavenly Banquet to share in the fullness of His eternal blessings and happiness. This invitation is God’s pure gift to us as we cannot earn it or do we deserve it.
- This invitation is only given to those who follow Jesus and live His Teachings and Truth. Are we willing to accept God’s invitation or do we choose to end up like the man who is “without a wedding garment”?
- Ask Jesus to make us firm believers and followers of the Gospel and thus be His worthy disciples. This will not be easy, but God will be there for us at all times.
