Reflection on the WORD

Most Precious Relationship with God”: Jesus proclaimed that the most valued relationships that God His Father cherishes are those who love Him; fully and faithfully. Ponder on, “Human relationships are an essential part of our lives. However, our relationship with God is infinitely deeper. This relationship is our identity as His child; and eternal life as our True Home.”

Matthew 12:46-50

Jesus was speaking to the crowds when suddenly his mother and his brothers were standing outside and were anxious to have a word with him.

But to the man who told him this Jesus replied, ‘Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?’ And stretching out his hand towards his disciples he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers. Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus is a selfless and compassionate person who wants all peoples to love and serve His Father.
  • Hence, is it any wonder that Jesus too wants us to love and serve His Father’s Will by loving and serving others selflessly and compassionately like Him?
  • Jesus considers those who love and serve others selflessly out of love for Him to be His family, and to be doing His Father’s Will. When we love and serve, do we do so out of love for Jesus?
