Reflection on the WORD
“Insecurities of life” – Faith: The chief priests and Pharisees discussed what to do with Jesus; who was proclaiming the Good News of Eternal Salvation; and whose believers were increasing in great numbers. Ponder on, “If we have Jesus as our only security in our life; we will no longer have any fears; as God’s Providence will Protect and Care for us.”
John 11:46-53
Some of them went to the Pharisees to tell them what Jesus had done. Then the chief priests and Pharisees called a meeting. `Here is this man working all these signs,' they said, `and what action are we taking? If we let him go on in this way everybody will believe in him, and the Romans will come and suppress the Holy Place and our nation.'
One of them, Caiaphas, the high priest that year, said, `You do not seem to have grasped the situation at all; you fail to see that it is to your advantage that one man should die for the people, rather than that the whole nation should perish.' He did not speak in his own person, but as high priest of that year he was prophesying that Jesus was to die for the nation - and not for the nation only, but also to gather together into one the scattered children of God. From that day onwards they were determined to kill him.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Caiaphas had unknowingly prophesied that Jesus must die for the nation and the Pharisees took that as a cue to kill and eliminate Jesus.
- However, Jesus did not allow fear or opposition to hold him back from doing His Father’s Will. He set towards Jerusalem with single mindedness, knowing full well that death awaited him there.
-
As His followers, do you allow fear and opposition to hold you back from doing God’s Will? You may not be asked to die for God but will you be willing to offer your time, resources to God in obedience to His Will?
