Reflection on the WORD

Jesus’ Ways” – FaithJesus taught His disciples to be Compassionate, and not to be judgmental; and never condemn any person; always forgive willingly. All these, done out of love for Jesus, will bring us great spiritual Blessings and Rewards. Ponder on, “Do we find it difficult to live in these ways, like Jesus? Pray for the grace to become more like Him.”

Luke 6:36-38

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate. Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.

‘Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • No one is perfect except God. How often do we see the minor faults of others, but are blind to the more serious faults in ourselves. Do not judge others but look for the good in them.
  • Today’s Gospel calls us to show greater generosity in our relationship with others; not only in financial matters but also in understanding, acceptance, compassion and forgiveness. The more generous we are with others the more we will receive in return.
  • As Christians we are to remember God’s continual love for us even when we are at our worst.  As disciples of Jesus we should radiate this merciful love and generosity especially to the marginalized.
