Reflection on the WORD

Blind men – Faith”: Two blind men were pleading with Jesus to heal them. And, they professed their faith in Jesus, as the Saviour. Jesus healed them, and they glorified God to all peoples. Ponder on, “Jesus always works miracles in our lives, if we profess our faith in Him as our Saviour with deep commitment. Have we not experienced countless miracles in our lives?”

Matthew 9:27-31

As Jesus went on his way two blind men followed him shouting, ‘Take pity on us, son of David.’ And when Jesus reached the house the blind men came up to him and he said to them, ‘Do you believe I can do this?’ They said, ‘Lord, we do.’

Then he touched their eyes saying, ‘According to your faith, let it be done to you.’ And their sight returned. Then Jesus sternly warned them, ‘Take care that no one learns about this.’ But when they had gone away, they talked about him all over the countryside.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Our Lord can and will perform miracles and wonders for us if we only have stronger faith in Him. That was precisely why Jesus showed mercy to the two blind men when He healed them of their blindness.
  • Are there areas of “blindness” in the way I live my Christian life, e.g. my pride, lack of concern, impatience and lack of respect for others, etc.?
  • The blind men who were cured proclaimed Jesus’ power for all to hear. Do I feel just as energetic and enthusiastic in proclaiming what Christ has done for me? Why?
