Reflection on the WORD

Jesus’ – Divine Mission” – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus received great admiration from everyone. However, this was short lived as He would Suffer and Die in the hands of His enemies. Ponder on, “Jesus’ Divine Mission was to proclaim that He is the Son of God to announce His Father’s Will to save mankind. However, He was condemned for blasphemy.

Luke 9:43b-45

While everyone was full of admiration for all he did, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘For your part, you must have these words constantly in mind: The Son of man is going to be delivered into the power of men’'

But they did not understand what he said; it was hidden from them so that they should not see the meaning of it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus reminded His disciples to keep in mind that the Son of man must suffer and die and then raised from death three days later.
  • This Truth was hard for the disciples to understand; more so to accept, especially when things were going well for Jesus. Likewise, for us too, do we not tend to “limit” God’s powers and Love for us through our narrow perceptions of Him?
  • Today’s Gospel passage invites us to invoke the Holy Spirit when we are confronted with aspects of our Faith that we cannot understand.
