Reflection on the WORD

Jesus’ – Pastoral Services: In today’s Gospel, Jesus was accompanied by His Twelve apostles and disciples; who served and provided for His Mission. Ponder on, “We are each called to be aware that God’s Blessings for us; are to be used not only for our own salvation, but also for the services of the Church and others; for His Greater Glory.”

Luke 8:1-3

Jesus made his way through towns and villages preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. With him went the Twelve, as well as certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and ailments: Mary surnamed the Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their own resources.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • During His three years of public ministry Jesus travelled extensively and He was accompanied by His apostles and a few women from diverse backgrounds.
  • Jesus transformed this group of diverse personalities and temperaments and used their gifts for all the different pastoral needs that arose.  Regardless of whatever the challenges, there will always be tremendous joy in doing God’s Will and serving His people.
  • Ask the Lord to set your heart on fire for Him so that you will use your talents and time more freely and generously for Him and for His people who long to receive the Good News of salvation.
