Reflection on the WORD
“Good Shepherd” – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed that His Love for us; is personal. He knows each of us by name, and we recognise His voice; and do not follow a stranger.” Ponder on, “How and when do we experience Jesus personally? Do we speak and listen to Jesus daily and not only when we are facing trials and tribulations?”
John 10:1-5, 9-10
Jesus said: ‘In all truth I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a bandit. He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock; the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leads them out. When he has brought out all those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow because they know his voice. They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not recognise the voice of strangers.
‘I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and will find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- In today’s Gospel, Jesus, the Good Shepherd, calls Himself the “Gate” of life. By this He is offering us the fullness of life, if we heed His voice and enter through this “Gate”.
- As we enter and leave this “Gate” in our daily living, we will never get lost in life because Jesus will be our security in all the challenges we face.
-
The consolation we receive in this Truth of Jesus is the intimacy that we will develop with Him daily and eventually this will lead us to the “Gate of eternal happiness” in heaven.
