Reflection on the WORD
Good News – Cross: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed clearly that the “Good News of Salvation”, must include our total committed response. God must be our first and ultimate love in our life. Ponder on: Jesus also promises that in living our faith, God will always give us His graces, Light and Strength, to overcome challenges. Is our commitment to our faith deep?
Luke 12:49-53
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘I have come to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were blazing already! There is a baptism I must still receive, and how great is my distress till it is over!
‘Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on, a household of five will be divided: three against two and two against three; the father divided against the son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- When Jesus says He has come to bring “division,” He is not saying that He will bring terror to ruin people’s lives.
-
Rather, upon His arrival, many will choose to follow Him, while others will choose to oppose Him.
-
However, as followers of Jesus, we are called to bring peace through our love for our Lord and to witness this through our deeds. This will help to draw more people to follow Jesus.
