Reflection on the WORD
Serving God – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus prophesied His Suffering and Death. He explained that “unless a grain of wheat falls onto the earth and dies . . . it cannot yield a rich harvest.” Ponder on: Do we desire to be a faithful disciple of Jesus? If so, are we willing to “die to ourself” in our selfless service of God’s Kingdom? Beg God for such graces.
John 12:20-26
Among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks. These approached Philip, who came from Bethsaida in Galilee, and put this request to him, ‘Sir, we should like to see Jesus.’ Philip went to tell Andrew and Andrew and Philip together went to tell Jesus.
Jesus replied to them: ‘Now the hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified. In all truth I tell you, unless a wheat grain falls into the earth and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies it yields a rich harvest.
‘Anyone who loves his life loses it; anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me, must follow me, and my servant will be with me wherever I am. If anyone serves me, my Father will honour him.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Like the Greeks in Jesus’ time, many of us want to know Jesus more personally so that His Teachings can sink more deeply into our hearts.
- Through our Baptism, we have become sons and daughters of God who profess and live the Truth of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection. We are also blessed with abundant graces to live our faith daily; i.e. the “new life” that God has given each of us.
- Let us live a Christ-centred life so that whoever comes into contact with us will come to know Jesus and His love.
