Reflection on the WORD

Remain in My Love – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims to His disciples, “If you keep My Commandments, you will remain in My Love, and your Joy will be complete.”  Ponder on: Do we  experience deepest ‘Joys’ when we are: reconciled with God in the Sacrament of Reconciliation; and living His Will through our creative fidelity and challenging sacrifices?

John 15:9-11

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘I have loved you just as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus assures His disciples that His love for them is as deep as He loves His Father.
  • This love is a steadfast and sacrificial love and for the disciples to experience this love of Jesus, they too must be willing to be single-minded and selfless in the way they relate to Him and one another.
  • Let us pray that we too will have such love for Jesus in our daily living.  How is God challenging you to love Him and others?
