Octave of Christmas 7th Day: Saturday 31st December, 2022 December 31, 2022
Reflection on the WORD
The Year 2022 – Faith: In today’s Gospel, we re-affirm that God is the “True Light” that offers us Eternal Salvation. However, many have chosen not to recognise and accept Him. Ponder on: How has youryear 2022 been? Have you searched and lived in ‘God’s Light’ or sadly, has the glitters and glamours of the secular world been ‘your light’?
John 1:1, 9-14, 18
In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God. The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; he was coming into the world. He was in the world that had come into being through him, and the world did not recognise him. He came to his own and his own people did not accept him. But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believed in his name who were born not from human stock or human desire or human will but from God himself.
The Word became flesh, he lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory that he has from the Father as only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. No one has ever seen God; it is the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- · Today is the last day of the year. As we look back on what happened during the year, was God relevant to us in all that we did and how we lived?
- · Have we rejected and not recognized Him in any significant way and failed Him? Take heart to renew your desires to live more fully in His ways in the coming year.
- · For the times that we have lived in His ways significantly, let us thank God and ask Him for the graces to live even more fully if it means embracing changes and challenges courageously in His Spirit.
