Reflection on the WORD

God-is-with Us!  In today’s celebration of Christmas, we rejoice because God has Chosen to be Born as a human person.  The Child Jesus is to be begin living physically in our world in order to offer us the Divine Gift of Eternal Life.  Ponder on: Our daily living would be totally meaninglesswithout Jesus.  So, let us rejoice and glorify God with our lives.

Luke2:6-14

Now it happened that, while Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to have her child, and she gave birth to a son, her first-born. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the living-space.

In the countryside close by there were shepherds out in the fields keeping guard over their sheep during the watches of the night. An angel of the Lord stood over them and the glory of the Lord shone round them. They were terrified, but the angel said, ‘Do not be afraid. Look, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. And here is a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.’

And all at once with the angel there was a great throng of the hosts of heaven, praising God with the words: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace for those he favours.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • ·       Like the shepherds keeping watch over their flocks in the fields daily, we too busy ourselves with our daily chores and concerns of life.

    ·

  • ·       However, today is different; we wait in quiet anticipation of the historical event that was to transform the history of humankind totally.
  •    How will the coming of Jesus this Christmas change your life for the better?  Will this Christmas be an uneventful and mundane event after all the parties are over or will your heart continue to seek and desire the transformation that Jesus promises when He enters into our life and world?
