Reflection on the WORD
Zacchaeus’ Faith – A Model: In today’s Gospel, Jesus praised Zacchaeus, a senior tax collector for his exemplary faith: his zeal to meet Jesus, his willingness to repent and repay those he cheated four times over, and to give half hisproperty to the poor. Ponder on: When we repent for our sins, do we do so with deep repentance, like Zacchaeus?
Luke 19:2-6, 9-10
A man whose name was Zacchaeus made his appearance; he was one of the senior tax collectors and a wealthy man. He was anxious to see what kind of man Jesus was, but he was too short and could not see him for the crowd; so he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus who was to pass that way. When Jesus reached the spot he looked up and spoke to him: ‘Zacchaeus, come down. Hurry, because I must stay at your house today.’ And he hurried down and welcomed him joyfully.
And Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek out and save what was lost.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •Zacchaeus was a sinner but his heart was open to God’s Spirit. The opportunity came when he heard that Jesus was passing by. So, in his zeal, he climbed a tree to have a better glimpse of Jesus.
- •We need to admit that we, too, are imperfect, weak and sinful. Like Zacchaeus, we need God’s forgiving Love.
- •Are we zealous in seeking Jesus’ forgiveness in our daily living? We will be more “effective” in serving God’s Mission if we were to reconciled with Him more fully.
