Reflection on the WORD

Jesus’ Challenges: In today’s Gospel, Jesus’ own relatives misunderstood His passionate desire to fulfil His Father’s Mission of Salvation for all peoples.  Ponder on the times when you lived the Gospel with compassion, care and love, but was misunderstood and rejected by others.  How did you face the challenges?”

Mark 3:20-21

Jesus went home, and such a crowd collected that they could not even have a meal. When his relatives heard of this, they set out to take charge of him; convinced he was out of his mind.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •In the course of His ministry, Jesus was falsely accused of many things and called by all sorts of names.  Thus, it was of no surprise that His relatives said that He was “out of His mind.”
  • •Through the centuries, many of Jesus’ followers too endured hardships, criticisms and even to die willingly and courageously for the sake of the Gospel.
  • •We too should expect challenges and sacrifices if we want to be true followers of Jesus.  If our faith does not pose challenges for us daily, it is time to check whether we are living our faith fully.
