Reflection on the WORD

Deepened Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds His disciples not only to “proclaim their faith in His Father who offers Salvation, but to live the faith daily with deep commitment.  Ponder on, “Is my faith in God our Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, renewed, deepened and lived daily or is my faith lived routinely and superficially?

Matthew 7:21, 24-27

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘It is not those who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” who will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven.

‘Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fall: it was founded on rock. But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •To enter heaven we must obey the will of God the Father. And the will of the Father is that we believe in Jesus Christ, His Son, in order that we might have eternal life.
  • •To believe does not mean just to confess with our lips that Jesus is Lord, we must take action and live the Gospel values. Our lives must conform to Jesus’ teachings.
  • •Do we love as Jesus loves in our daily encounters with family, friends and colleagues? Pray for the Grace to discern God’s will and to obey with great love and humility.
