Reflection on the WORD

“Truth – Faith”: In today’s Gospel, Jesus was proclaiming about the Truth of Salvation and the mystery of the “Second Coming”.  Ponder on, "are we living our faith without the ongoing reflection on the meaning of our lives and God’s Will for us after we die or are we preoccupied with our material needs? "

Luke 21:5-9

When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework and votive offerings, Jesus said, ‘All these things you are staring at now-the time will come when not a single stone will be left on another; everything will be destroyed.’

And they put to him this question, ‘Master,’ they said, ‘when will this happen, then, and what sign will there be that this is about to take place?’  ‘Take care not to be deceived,’ he said ‘because many will come using my name and saying, “I am he” and “The time is near at hand.” Refuse to join them. And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened, for this is something that must happen but the end is not so soon.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •Believers of Christianity are to witness to Christ’s limitless compassion and love for us.  Christ was willing to die for us that we might gain eternal life.
  • •In today’s Gospel Jesus foretold His own death; He was referring to His death, but the crowd thought that He was referring to the Temple of Jerusalem.
  • •How often do we misinterpret the meaning of God’s Word because we are too prejudiced and preoccupied with living in our narrow ways? How is God challenging us to be more open to Truth of His Word?
