Reflection on the WORD

Assumption of Mary: In today’s Gospel of Mary’s visitation to her cousin Elizabeth, we have the solemn miraculous encounter of great Joy of John the Baptist greeting Jesus in their mother’s wombs.  Being the Mother of Jesus and without any sin, Mary was assumed into heaven.  Do we trust fully in the powerful intercession of Mary as our Mother.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •In today’s Gospel, we see that Mary was so specially “blessed” by God. The word "blessed" [makarios in Greek] literally means "happiness" or "beatitude". It describes a kind of joy which is serene and untouchable, self-contained, and independent from chance and changing circumstances of life.
  • •The Holy Spirit dwells within each of us and also enables us to know and experience the reality of our faith in Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour.
  • Pray daily to be guided by the Holy Spirit and for the graces to grow in your faith, hope and love for God.
