Reflection on the WORD
Faith – Doubt?: In today’s Gospel, Jesus asked Thomas the apostle to put his finger into His wounds to verify that He is the same Lord who was Crucified, and is now Risen. Do we doubt the Gospel of our Risen Lord or are we committed to living it wholeheartedly? Jesus our Risen Lord has come to transform our lives and offer us Eternal Life.
John 20:24-29
Thomas, called the Twin, who was one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said, ‘We have seen the Lord,’ he answered, ‘Unless I can see that the nails made in his hands and can put my finger into the holes they made, and unless I can put my hand into his side, I refuse to believe.’
Eight days later the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed, but Jesus came in and stood among them. ‘Peace be with you,’ he said. Then he spoke to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; look, here are my hands. Give me your hand; put it into my side. Doubt no longer but believe.’
Thomas replied, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him: ‘You believe because you can see me. Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe.’

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •Only the disciples from the first century came into direct contact with Jesus, the rest of the believers have not seen the Risen Christ. There are more than 1 billion Christians in the world today; these are the ones who have not seen and yet believe.
- •We are “believers” like Thomas, but tend to doubt when our lives and faith in Jesus is being challenged and threatened. In such situations, we want to “see and touch” the wounds of Jesus to be convinced.
- •May the Risen Lord give us the graces we need to believe in Him more firmly and faithfully especially in times of pain and confusion of our lives.
