St Francis Xavier, Priest - Patron of Missions: Tuesday 3rd December, 2019 December 3, 2019
Reflection on the WORD
Serving God: St Francis Xavier, the patron saint of missions, brought the Catholic faith to India and East Asia. He proclaimed the faith with such great passion, that he eventually died from the exhaustion of his service to God’s people, and the unfulfilled dreams of bringing the faith to mainland China. Have we brought others closer to Jesus?
Mark 16:15-20
Jesus showed himself to the Eleven, and he said to them, ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’
And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven; there at the right hand of God he took his place, while they, going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus wants His disciples and all of us today, to proclaim the Good News of Salvation to all peoples.
- There are billions of people in the world who do not yet know and love Jesus enough to accept His gift of eternal salvation. There are also those who have heard, but are not yet inspired and encouraged to accept Jesus.
- You can help to spread the Good News in your home, in offices, amongst friends by showing them your love, concern and compassion, by sharing stories from the Bible, miracles, personal spiritual experiences and the like.
