Reflection on the WORD

Salvation through Christ:  The human race is destroying itself through the evils of greed and pride and by worshipping idols, living unjustly, immorally.  God, in His Mercy sent His Son Jesus, as our Saviour and Lord.  We are each blessed to have the gift of faith, but are we witnessing to Christ’s Gospel daily to the “lost”?

John 3:13-17

Jesus said to Nicodemus: ‘No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of man; as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

‘For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. For God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but so that through him the world might be saved.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •Jesus' analogy of Moses raising His bronze serpent in the desert with Himself being lifted up on His Cross. This will bring deep healing, peace and in due course, everlasting life to all who believe in Him.
  • •God demonstrated concretely how His redemptive love for us is infinite and unconditional when He did not spare His Son to atone for our sins and those of the world throughout human history.
  • •Let us never forget to thank God with deep gratitude for His Mercy and Love and for making us His sons and daughters and with Jesus as our brother and Lord.
