Reflection on the WORD
Love: Selfless-Sacrifice: In today’s Gospel, Jesus prophesised that He will be mocked, scourged and crucified, and be raised on the third day. Many of Jesus’ disciples left Him, as they were not willing to live the “selfless-sacrifice” that His Love demands of them. Is our service of Jesus solely for His Greater Glory?
Mt 20:17-19,25-28
Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, and on the road he took the Twelve aside by themselves and said to them, ‘Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man is about to be handed over to the chief priests and scribes. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised up again.’
Jesus said, ‘You know that among the gentiles the rulers lord it over them, and great men make their authority felt. Among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be your servant, and anyone who wants to be first among you must be your slave, just as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- •As Jesus’ death is impending He realizes that His Mission on earth is coming to an end. Thus, He has to prepare His Apostles well to continue His Teachings.
- •Jesus sees that it is essential that His Apostles “do not lord over others,” but should be humble servants of people so that the Word of God that they preach will be more credible.
- •If we claim to be true followers of Christ, then let us imitate Jesus’ life and His teachings more faithfully.
